Duodenal Mucosa
There are three different types of histological duodenal mucosa are present in normal human body. These three types are known as the transitional-type duodenal mucosa, duodenal mucosa and jejuna-type duodenal mucosa. This duodenal mucosa is present in the stomach and duodenum that have fingerlike structure. One of the three different types of duodenal mucosa, a transitional type, is also known by different names as the gastric surface epithelial metaplasia or the gastric epithelium.
According to the evidence that were shown defines that this is normal and does not refer to any duodenal. The common versions of the villi were shown that does not refer to the indication of the duodenal. This only determines the lining and shape of pyloric sphincter.
Abnormal Duodenal Mucosa
The duodenal mucosa suffers from the small and inveterate duodenal ulcers. The studies show that the three different types of the mucosa differ with each other on the basis of their susceptibility. The diagnosis characteristic of the duodenitis was examined. The gastritis and duodenitis both results in the painful situation when not cured on time would worsen the situation. Due to the absence of the quantitative immune cytochemistry and morphometric methods, Jenkins classifications have been used to identify the situation.
After the use, of Jenkins classifications for duodenal mucosa, the widely spread duodenitis was easily noticed that was not seen in schematic duodenal ulceration. This clarification has shown that the chronic duodenitis have no connection with the chronic duodenal ulcer, whereas chronic gastric ulcer has got connection with it.
Duodenal Mucosa Example
In the picture shown, the duodenal villi shape and nature could be easily noticed. The cells that are present in indefinite amount are the enterocytes, but also there are several goblet cells are also visible. In the goblet cells, some of the bare microvilli are present, but they are not covered as that of the enterocytes. The goblet cells have plain image like its name.
The duodenal mucosa has a column like structure. Its cells are present in the basal lamina that could be easily seen in the picture as the bright line below the cells. The peak of the villus has been replaced by the constant goblet cells and enterocytes that are present in the lower part of crypts. Every day, billions of the goblet cells get spread. The new cells again arises that move towards the villi tips.
A typical enterocyte has a life cycle of three to seven days. During their life cycle, they have been protected by the gut digestive juices that are developed in the goblet cells by mucus. These cells do not live long as they have been attacked by the intestine that breaks down the organic materials.
It might be expected that the goblet cells would live long, but still it is left doubted. The goblet cells that are present at the villi were revealed for the luminal enzymes digestive action. The studies have shown that the secretion of the goblet cells occurs at an instance. In this process, the mucus has been released by the cells that dies and then replaced by other cells.
